Under 15 Blue v Warminster Highbury
A much improved performance against the league Leaders
Melksham went into the game needing to up their performance from the previous week and we were not dissappointed.
A game played in torrential conditions, Highbury dominated the early possession and Peter pulled off 2 great saves to keep the scores level. A unfortunate goal and a goal after a controvertial offside decision put Highbury in command, but Melksham started to get their game together. Paul went close and will had another chance before half time.
The second half with the introduction of fresh legs, Melksham created more openings, a one 2 between joe and Mike put Paul free and produced a save from the goalie. A cross from George found Pauls head and went just over. After all this pressure Highbury hit melksham on the counter attack twice to go 4 - 0 up. Melksham finally had their reward for their attacking play, a flowing move from Matty, Mike and Joe put George free on the right and his cross found Pauls head to loop into the goal. Jonathan had a further chance and Mike put a shot wide before Highbury finished off the scoring to run out 5-1 winners.
The defence played well in slippery conditions against a pacy attack with Jack K, Simon, Ben, Tom and David all playing a part.
Our Midfield of Joe, Jonathan, George, Simon, Mike and Matty began to click again and created chances which we were unable to do last week.
Paul and Will battled up front against a uncompromising defence.
Peter produced another great display in goal, saving two one of ones.
