Melksham clinch title after 5-0 win over FC Chippenham
Melksham Town Youth U13 Girls clinched the league title with a game to go after a 5-0 win over FC Chippenham.
We would like to thank FC Chippenham for making it such an enjoyable game and atmosphere for both teams with the game played in great spirit.
The game it self started with Melksham on the attack with Ash and Tash going close before Mary scored on 4 minutes with second coming on 6 minutes. FC pushed forward with their forward hitting the post after turning Alex and then just shooting wide. Mary clinched her hattrick on 17 minutes after a goalmouth scramble led to her knocking the ball home.
The game turned into an end to end affair with chances at both ends with Both goalkeepers keeping hold of everything on target.
The second half saw more chances for melksham but were thwarted by the FC Chippenham keeper and shooting just wide. Ellie took over in goal after 40 minutes after Abi had problems breathing but was to enter the pitch as an outfield player on 55 minutes with immediate effect, scoring on 58 minutes past her school friend.
Ashley finished the scoring on 59 minutes with a low shot to the goalies right.
The whistle blew and the team could celebrate becoming the first girls league champions at the club, fingers crossed for the under 10's to join them.
Well done girls there is a semi final on the 5th April so don't party too hard.
