Under 10 Girls Secure Runners -Up Position
Swindon Town Reds 0 - 0 Melksham Town
I would like to thank Steve and the Swindon Town Reds Team and supporters for the 5 great games we've played this season, the games have been played in the 'right' spirit and have been very close, credit must be given to all involved. Good luck next season in the Oxford League!
After last week we knew we needed a point to secure second place in the league. The final game of the season away from home, our central midfielder struggling to jog in training the night before and players unavailable, do you play for the draw................ hang on this is Under 10's football not the Champions League, is it possible to play for a draw?
Well our girls are something else, a different class. The answer to my question is ..... Yes, it is possible to play and to play and know that if we don't concede we secure Runners-Up. The girls showed what team work, attitude and belief can do. Emma had an outstanding game up front, the midfield of Georgia, Ruby and not sure if it was Lauren, Elizabeth or Rosie battled throughout the game, Erin, Elizabeth or Lauren ensured that Reds had very few chances and when they did Imy made some very important saves. Imy you showed how if you come off your line quickly how effective you can be. Well done to all the girls today.
To sum up this game let me quote you a shout from the pitch that shows what this result meant to the team ...... with a couple of minutes to go we had a corner and one of our attacking midfield players, was going forward for the corner and turned to a defender and shouted "don't you let her get away from you, mark her close" .. Of course she did and the game ended 0 - 0.
A special thank you to Molly for coming along to watch us today.
Thank you to the parents for their support today and over the season and the biggest thank you to the players, have a great day tomorrow at the MTYFC Fun Day, you should be very proud this season... well done girls!
