U8 MTYFC Robins vs Bradford on Avon (Friendly) 22/03/2008 (Away)
ICE COOL WIN FOR ROBINS
BRADFORD ON AVON 0:6 MTYFC U8 ROBINS
On this freezing morning The Robins produced their most efficient performance to date.
A man down before kick off, with Matthew feeling unwell, Robins kicked off with the strong wind behind them and immediately won a corner. This was the first of many as Bradford struggled to get the ball out of their half, not helped by the conditions. A goal seemed inevitable and it came via another corner which Kieren controlled and drilled a low shot towards the goal which an unlucky Bradford defender could only divert past his goalie into the net. 1:0. There followed what seemed an onslaught on the Bradford goal but their players united behind the ball and kept the ball out until Haken pounced on a goal kick, passed to Kieren who beat the keeper to make it 2:0. Before half-time Josh added a third by making room for himself to unleash his trademark Thunderbolt into the bottom corner.3:0. Half-time.
The 2nd half started with the Robins now kicking into the driving blizzard. Despite this they continued to put Bradford under pressure and felt confident enough to leave Adam as a lone defender with Elliott pushing forward to support the attack. Then Kieren produced a piece of magic by winning the ball about 15 yards out and lobbed the goalie, to score his hat-trick 4:0. Josh then had another shot blocked and Haken’s rebound was well saved. Bradford were still under pressure with Tom and Josh attacking on either flank, winning endless corners and one of these provided Kieren with his fourth goal stabbing in at the near post.5:0. The final goal came courtesy of a great run from Tom who held off two challenges the ball broke to Haken who slotted the ball left footed past the goalie, Kieren just got a touch before it crossed the line eager to claim another. 6:0 Last weeks Man of the Match Nathan could of stayed in the warm and Josh decided to warm up a bit before he got frost bite, sensible lad. Well done to all players and supporters of both teams for braving the elements, roll on summer.
