U8 MTYFC Robins v Corsham (Home) 15/03/2008
FRUSTRATION FOR THE ROBINS 2-3
Muddy pitch conditions and constant rain made for a very exciting and dramatic game.
The match started with Robins on top and pressing hard. Tom and Haken had early attempts on target. The deserved breakthrough came after 5 minutes with a superb strike from Tom that finished in the top corner of the net to make it 1-0. The next scoring opportunity went to Corsham , they broke through the middle and shot only to be denied by a diving save from Nathan low down to his right, one of the saves of the season! Melksham kept up the pressure with Josh shooting from distance and Kieren battling up front. On 15 minutes Elliott pounced on a loose ball just inside the area he shot through a crowded defence to make it 2-0. As the 1st half was coming to a close Corsham forced their way through and shot , Nathan blocked superbly but Corsham managed to slot away the loose ball to make it 2-1 and that scoreline remained until half time.
Corsham came out for the 2nd half fired up and Robins had their backs to the wall. Adam and Elliott were solid at the back and Nathan was making save after save, however the onslaught paid off after 35 minutes when Corsham drilled a low shot under Nathan's diving body to make it 2-2. As the last few minutes approched Corsham worked the ball down the flank and from a very tight angle scored to make it 2-3. With under 2 minutes remaining Robins frantically went after the equaliser, William who was playing in midfield came the closest with a shot that came back off the post and in the dying seconds Haken's shot produced a fine save. The Robins left the field a bit down but Coach Darren can be very pleased with the performance and effort shown by the players in one of the most exciting games of the season.

Well done boys, an absolutely great game of football, one which you didn't deserve to lose. From the first minute to the last, you boys gave everything.
