U8 MTYFC Green Bibs vs Bradford Town Youth 22-03-2008

Luke, Lee and Josh playing in their first match for Melksham Town were joined by Robins regulars, Nathan, Tom, Elliot and Kieren for this friendly with Bradford Town.

Playing in a bitter cold wind Luke, Lee and Josh didn’t seem to notice such was their excitement at the prospect of playing a game!

Bradford kicked off and were immediately put under pressure from Melksham and the cold wind blowing into their faces with Luke and Lee playing up front it wasn’t long before the Bradford Keeper was tested, pulling off a fine save to deny Luke a goal.  Lee, Kieren and Josh all followed with good shots at goal but were all denied by Bradford’s excellent Keeper.

When Bradford tried to break out of their own half they were thwarted at every opportunity by Elliot playing up high on the half way line, winning the ball from Bradford Elliot played it back in, Tom was quickest to react unleashing a fierce shot past the Bradford Keeper. 0-1.

Straight from the kick off, Melksham pegged Bradford back into their own half.  Bradford were defending well and their Keeper making many more fine saves from Luke and Lee.  Josh unleashed a great left foot shot and got himself on the score sheet just before half time making the score 0-2 to Melksham.

Melksham now had the wind in their faces and Bradford were quick on the attack.  Elliot had to be on his toes and was blocking Bradford runs.  Tom collected a loose ball and made an amazing run from his own half only to be denied yet again by a fine diving save by Bradford’s Keeper.

A big goal kick from Bradford put Melksham under real pressure.  Kieren was quickly off his goal line to keep the score the same, from his goal kick Tom made another fine run shooting at goal, the Bradford Keeper pulled off yet another great save but Josh was following in and hit the ball high up into goal to make it 0-3 and that’s how the score remained until the final whistle.

A big thank you to Bradford Manager - Russ, and the players and supporters from both teams for an excellent football match.
