U10 Saints v Worton Cheveral - CUP
This was a long awaited fixture with the bad weather and the previous round teams not having completed until last week !
Melksham
started the match with some apprehension having not played a game in 9
weeks and knowing that Worton had played the week before.
This showed in the game as Worton took control from the KO, and applied the pressure in Melksham's half.
A
break against the run of play saw Melksham on the attack, Ben W saw an
opportunity and placed it in the corner of the net.(5 minutes)
Worton
continued to attack and a very strong strike by one of there midfield
players, from well outside of the area, hit the Melksham keepers gloves
and dropped behind him to give a heavily disputed goal.(10 minutes)
Up until half time Worton were the stronger side putting together some great passing moves in midfield and finishing the half
with another two goals. (15 & 18 Minutes)
Half Time - 3 -1 Worton
After a rousing half time talk, Melksham's players came out fired up and took control of the game.
Strong
tackles and great passing created numerous chances for Melksham
eventually resulting in a well fabricated goal from Zac H (28 minutes)
and
then another From Jack E (38 Minutes) to bring the game level.
3 - 3 at Full time.
Melksham
continued to pile on the pressure and with 3 minutes of extra time
gone, a goal line scramble following a shot from Zac H
saw Ben tap it in - 'Melksham take the lead'
The last five minutes of the game was hard fought between both sides without either team finding the net.
Final Score Melksham 4 Worton 3
The supporters agreed that this had been one of the best games of the season.
Special congratulation to Josh Long for an outstanding performance.
Man of the Match - Zac Hillier
