Match report on a thrilling match

Under 13's beat League Champions

even two of them couldn't win this header against Ben S

Following on from last weeks home win against Westbury A (we won 8-2) Melksham had their first away game of the season against last seasons league winners. On a lovely day but a very small pitch the game was very tight until 20 minutes into the first half when Melkshams leading scorer, Ben Spong, helped himself to a quick fire double helped ably by many of his team mates. Chippenham replied well and scored a goal off a rebound after a fine save by Liam Brock. The second half saw Melksham applying a lot of pressure and could have scored again but Chippenham were then awarded a free kick which somehow got through a crowd of players and beat the goalkeeper to level the score. Melksham then stepped up the pressure and a few minutes later were awarded a penalty after Leon Greenland was upended in the box. Ben Little calmly sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to put Melksham back in front and then with 5 minutes to go Ben Spong completed his hat trick when he headed in from a Brad Butcher corner. Melksham have now won their first 2 games and are top of the blue division on 6 points
