U12 Yellows unlucky in Cup

MELKSHAM U12 YELLOWS LOST 4-3 IN A VERY COMPETITIVE CUP MATCH AFTER LEADING 3-2 AT 50 MINS.

The yellows started this game badly conceding an early goal but were soon level when a penalty was awarded, which Jordan hammered into the top corner.

The game then became tense as play became end to end stuff with both teams having chances including Daniel hitting the post before Westbury finally broke the deadlock to lead 2-1.

This looked like the halftime score until in the dying mins Jordan popped up to score his second goal and level at 2-2.

The second half saw The yellows take an early strike as Jordan rounded off his hat-trick to give Melksham a 3-2 lead.

The game was now truly on and both teams created more chances with both goalkeepers standing firm, both Connor and Thomas went close.

but on approx the 50th minute Westbury equalised to set up an exciting last 15 mins.

Then with around 10 mins to go came the cruel twist of fate as Westbury were awarded a penalty which Hayden in the Melksham goal guessed the right way and made a full length dive to block the powerful shot.

As the players surrounded him to congratulate a wonderful save, the referee ordered a re-take which stunned everyone and from the retake Westbury scored.

Despite a rousing last few minutes where Daniel was clean through and was just wide of the post  the lads could not get the all important equaliser and Westbury with a little bit of luck on their side, won the tie 4-3.

The lads played well and yet again further improvement and more to come.
