U9 Robins v Trowbridge C
Robins win 5-3
Melksham Town U9 Robins came to the new Trowbridge venue at Staverton School with a full team of 10 players. We took an early lead to go 3-1 up by half time. Midfielder Henry and defender Will worked hard throughout the game to mark the oppositions best player, while Tom, Owen Hunt and Cam kept the defence tight. Owen Thomson also gave the opposition a good run and narrowly missed a shot from 20 yards out, while Henry was unlucky to narrowly miss a shot from the right wing in the second half.
Keeper Ieuan did well with some great saves and coming out of goal when needed.
Captain Joe Wood took the striker role and worked hard throughout the game to keep the pressure on, helping midfield when needed and using his speed and passing skills to work with George, Zak and Henry to get through the Trowbridge defence. Joe's efforts got him a well deserved Man of the Match award.
After half time Trowbridge started to pull back and the score went 4-1 then 4-2 then 4-3. We tightened up our defences and Zac put the finishing touches with to take the final score to 5-3.
Joe scored 2, Zak scored 1, and George scored 2.
An excellent result for Melksham. Well done.
