U10s AFC Corsham Leopards 3 Saints 3

Excellent battling for a well deserved draw

The Saints travelled to Corsham today for a tough game against well organised opposition.

From the start Saints had troubled adjusting to the rather small pitch (!) and found themselves being hustled off the ball due to the limited space and time that they had.  This lead to a spell of pressure from Corsham that resulted in an opening goal.

However an inspired substitution (!!!) soon brought the game back level with George Evans drilling in a excellent shot from out on the right with his first touch of the ball.  Corsham still continued to play well though and scored again to lead 2-1 at half time.

In the second half the Saints went out with more purpose but unfortunately went 3-1 when Corsham scored direct from free kick.  From that point on though Saints began to dominate and George scored again to pull it back to 3-2.  Saints continued to press and we got full reward when Kai Bush battled along the dead ball line from out on the right and forced the ball over the line.  From that point on Saints looked to be the only side likely to score the winner and continued to force Corsham back.  Unfortunately time was against us and we couldn't get the fourth before the final whistle blew.

Overall a very pleasing performance as all the players learnt to adapt to a tough game in fairly confined surroundings.

Things to learn are that we need to be quicker to the ball and more determined in our tackles.

Get ready for some hard training this week boys!
